The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kwara State Command has intercepted a diverted and adulterated petroleum products being transported inside fifty jerrycans along Kosubosu road in Baruten Local Government area of the State.
Zaid Babawale Afolabi, NSCDC spokesman in Kwara State revealed this in a release he personally signed and made available to newsmen in llorin on Thursday.
According to him, luck ran out of the suspected vandals, who were transporting the petroleum products in a blue colour Toyota Starlet with registration number AW 473 TYW as they ran into the NSCDC men on a routine patrol in Kosubosu.
” immediately the suspected oil thieves sighted our men, they took to their heels abandoning the vehicles laden with fifty kegs of petroleum products” Mr Babawale stated.
The NSCDC lmage maker in the State revealed further that the car and the petroleum products have been recovered and taken to the State Command’s headquarters in Ilorin.
Meanwhile, officers of the NSCDC have began manhunt for the suspected oil thieves while further investigations are ongoing.
