Nigerians residing in local communities where the Health Initiative by the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, is ongoing have been advised to avail themselves of the free program.

The NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim, gave this advice during the flag off of the program in Ijara- Isin community, Isin Local Government of Kwara State.

General Ibrahim, who was represented by the NYSC Kwara State Coordinator, Mrs Francisca Olaleye, reiterated that the health initiative was a platform to grant people at the grassroots easier, free and quality healthcare.

He said during the medical outreach, corps medical volunteers carry out diagnosis and treatment, including minor medical procedures and referrals of patients.

The NYSC Director General noted that the health program, launched in 2014, with the support of partners, had so far donated over three hundred wheelchairs, established community-based clinics and set up clinics for NYSC Secretariats as well as first aid and humanitarian aid.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries and the Community in general, the Olusin of Ijara Isin, Oba Julius Ajibola, represented by the Community Chairman, Alhaji Suleiman Madandola, appreciated the NYSC scheme, donors and partners for taking the initiative to the community.

The theme for 2021 NYSC Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers is: ” Health is Wealth for Advancement”.
