OPINION: Mas’ud Adebimpe And The Unnecessary Fear In The Reality Of Kwara North 2023

History has shown that Kwara Central has a large coming together of people from Kwara North in true solidarity to form the capital city of Ilorin same as history has proven that many towns in Kwara South especially in Ifelodun, Offa etc have strong ties with some parts of Kwara North.

Obviously, Mas’ud Adebimpe did not speak as a historically educated Ilorin man who has passed through the closeness of an “iya agba” perhaps he wandered while others sought to know.

Reading through the rejoinder of Mas’ud Adebimpe (former CPS to Dr. Bukola Saraki) to Wahab Oba (former CPS to Dr. AbdulFatah Ahmed) only clownishly and deceptively allude to the fact that Kwara North lacks the leaders to also play their part in building Kwara State.

He did not only refuse to betray truth that marginalization still exists in Kwara North and that despite believing that power can’t be given to us on a platter of gold, we have to fight for it as we have consistently been doing to prove that our being accomodating, tolerative and receptively loyal to the Kwara State growth irrespective of any angle it comes from doesn’t wipe off our sense of reason.

Adebimpe, only proved again that Kwara North leaders in the past have played their part to develop their domains with their little efforts lacking little or no support from the state government whereas even projects from the Federal Government and Private Sector are more situated based on sentiments rather than adding value to the entire state and also improving significantly the lives of the people where it is situated which ordinarily shouldn’t be if what he truly seeks is a Kwaran that will grow Kwara State and not a particular section.

Of what benefit is it when one has a Deputy Governor who can’t approve a project worth more than 2 million Naira to his zone only due to the fiat order of his superior, The Governor?

There can never be a gainsaying that some past leaders might have not taken advantage of their positions and or opportunity but when the government too, despite criss-crossing all nooks and cranny of towns to lobby and beg for votes gets into power and refuse to do the worth of their beg, that alone should speak of the integrity of those who might have led, should we now say that is the reason why Adebimpe and his likes are afraid to allow Kwara North to produce a governor come 2023?

Equity, Fairness and Justice has been our interest so as to deflate the wrong notions and emotions of deceptors like Adebimpe who feel Kwara North Agenda is to refuse other zones equal and commensurate growth especially the Central zone, the question to be asked is why should central zone even be scared when it will be impossible to shift anything away from the zone rather than also establishing necessary commensurate growth projects in the Kwara North zone and other zones accordingly, it is a no brainer to believe Bukola Saraki would have lost the last elections in Kwara North if he had also utilized his position as *Senate President* to facilitate a quarter of his influencive projects to the Entire Kwara North, I would have guaranteed that he would have won the election hands down even more if he had presented a Kwara Northerner but perhaps he was stoned more because of the candidate he chose to support and not specifically our past leaders who didn’t as well take the true picture of things in Kwara North to him being the leader as at the time.

If without infrastructure we still manage to produce, generate and share the highest revenue without even blinking, I think it is only proper and adequate for us to also have a taste of Governance in the State, so as to have only a fair share of our developmental infrastructure either completed, facilitated or situated where it should be and not based on politics, that states like Lagos, Osun, Ekiti, Ondo have towns across the State irrespective of their size doing well and looking very modern was because their was a deliberate attempt to make them so by those who had governed the State over the time, such will only be to the gain of the entire State and not to Kwara North alone perhaps our history and accommodating nature have allowed for inter-marriage between us and people from other zones which alone proves we are not as hard hearted as Adebimpe might have wanted to paint us to the innocent readers especially those from Ilorin who may have not been opportuned to have a first hand experience of our generally kind nature, a visit to *any* town in Kwara North would prove this but what we demand is the use of executive powers to carry out life touching and impactful projects which will propel our land and people to the next line of growth.

Of course, this needs engagement which both our elders and youths have long initiated, if today the government on seat hasn’t also changed the narrative significantly in terms of what should be away from the recent past then I don’t see anything criminal in Kwara North demanding that our son also taste from the pudding either it’s bitter or sweet what calls is to allow us have a bite first to reflect equity which can only be shunned in a bid for nothing short of chaos and mistrust, all that which is unhealthy for a state the age and exposure of Kwara.

As for competent personalities from Kwara North which Adebimpe himself knows we have aplenty but with his reasons as to why Kwara North shouldn’t be supported to lead in 2023 it’s obvious he doesn’t believe we do which alone is a mockery to his believe that only a zone can produce the Governor or perhaps despite our overwhelming vote for his version or interpretation of competence in the past, might have added no significant value to Kwara North after all.

Yes, more than ever before the entire five local governments of Kwara North are now speaking with one voice that we deserve better and more and hence the only way is to unite to fight for the governorship seat come 2023, we don’t expect it to be given to us on a platter especially when we are surrounded by the likes of Adebimpe who are syntactically and cunningly ethnocentric rather than development-centric as he had wanted us to believe.

Wahab Oba has not only chosen to align with the right and best thing to do at this point in time but it streghten the believe of some of us that other zones needs people they can trust from Kwara North and we have so many of us, our engagement with many of them has also proven that perhaps, trust doesn’t rely on one being your brother even in politics but more in the fear of God and being just, the ordinary Kwarans aren’t all politicians to think the way the former CPS to Dr. Bukola thinks, Kwara North which remains the mother of Kwara State has nothing against any one or zone, what we earnestly and sincerely seek is a governor of the soil who will be equitable, just and fair to all within the State commensurate with all that is deserving to each and every community.

Kwara North is ready and Yes, we have very competent, reliable, detribalized, capable and patriotic Kwarans from Kwara North who can lead the state just as there are conscientious Kwarans from the Central and Southern zones who would recall history and they also have the believe that we can do it

It will only be fair enough for us to also give what we can offer, mind you that would be a precursor to either Kwara North being trusted in the future or otherwise, we have a dignity based on brotherhood with the Central and Southern zone to protect against any false believe been cunningly peddled by Adebimpe and his ilks.
