Pocket Picker Slammed 8 Months Imprisonment- Kwara NSCDC

The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC)says that a twenty eight(28) year old Mohammed Abubakar has been arrested for theft and sentenced to eight months imprisonment by a magistrate court in Kaiama, Kwara State.

The incident occured on the 15th of July 2021 around 6:45pm at cattle market in Kaiama.

In a release signed by the Command’s public relation officer Babawale Zaid Afolabi, the suspect a native of Tambuwal in Sokoto state was handed over by Nigerian Army,according to them, the suspect stole the sum of seventy thousand naira #70,000 at the cattle market and as he was about to escape from the town,he branched at a filling station with his motorcycle to buy fuel and he equally stole a phone belonging to the petrol attendance.

The image maker further explained that he was intercepted by the vigilante,they later handed him over to the military personnel at the checking point close to the place of arrest.

Exhibit recovered from him are the sum of seventy thousand naira (#70,000) ,two stolen phones Infinix smart phone 5 and maxfone vii with three silver rings.

” The State Commandant Iskil Makinde has been briefed of the incident and he ordered for full scale investigations in order to take further actions “,Mr  Babawale added.

At about 10:30am, 16th of July 2021 the owner of the infinix phone made a direct complain at Magistrate court Kaiama and the suspect was presented before the magistrate,Justice Ajide for hearing. He was charged for trespass and theft and was sentenced to,8 month imprisonment in Federal correctional centre New Bussa Niger state.
