Former Senate president Bukola Saraki has been showered with prayers and praises as he built a mosque in Agbaji, his family house compound in Ilorin.
Saraki said he in a Facebook post that he built the mosque to fulfil the promise made to his late father, Oloye Olushola Saraki.
“Before my father, Oloye, passed away, I made him a promise that I will build a new mosque close to our family compound in Agbaji.
I could not actualize that promise during his lifetime because Almighty Allah (SWT) had other plans.
Notwithstanding, earlier today in fulfillment of my promise to my late father, we held the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Agbaji mosque.
As this mosque has been officially declared open, I pray that Almighty Allah will answer all the prayers and supplications that are made within its walls.
The gesture has received commendations from different quarters including the parent body of Ilorin Indigenes Association.
The President of Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressives Union IEDPU, Alhaji Aliyu Otta Usman, said the Agbaji Mosque, which its construction was singlehandedly financed by the former two terms Governor of Kwara State was a great development.
Alhaji Uthman said that, as the Chairman of the Committee that handled the project, he remained enamoured by the high quality commitment, generousity and patriotism displayed by Dr. Saraki, saying that without his interventions the multimillion Naira project would have possibly remained a mere dream.
The retired senior intelligence technocrat recalled that what Dr. Saraki did with the Agbaji Mosque was similar to what he did on the Ilorin Central Jumaat Mosque more than a decade ago and for which the community remains grateful, saying that the former Senate President has been an exact replica of his unforgettable father and second republic Senate Leader, Dr. Abubakar Olusola Saraki, who also performed the same feats during his lifetime.
