The former Presidential Candidate, Bashir Othman Tofa breathed his last in Kano.
Tofa, a former presidential candidate of the defunct NRC in the 1993 aborted election died after a protracted illness.
The erudite politician and astute businessman was earlier rumoured to have died on Friday evening before the news of his death was confirmed by one of his daughters.
Burial arrangements would be announced by the family later
