Stakeholders Urge Federal Government To Relax Ban On Importation Of Poultry Feeds

The Executive Director, National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation, NCAM, Dr Muhydeen Kasali has urged the Federal Government to relax the ban on importation of poultry feeds into the country.

Dr Kasali made the appeal while speaking at the closing ceremony of a training on capacity building for youth and women in integrated agricultural entrepreneurship, held at the centre, in Jimba Oja, Kwarw State

He said the plea became imperative in a bid to alleviate the challenges of feeds shortage confronting poultry farmers, in the country.

Dr Kasali said if the ban was relax a bit, most of the poultry farmers who had closed up their poultry farms, because of difficulties encountered in getting feeds for their birds, would go back to business, which would in turn enhance the nations food production.

Also speaking at the ceremony Head of Planing, Monitoring and Evaluation of NCAM, Dr Kola Omisore said the 60 participants drawn from across the country had been trained in various aspects of integrated agricultural entrepreneurship, with the aim of enhancing food sufficiency, in line with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture policy on food production and self sufficiency for youth in the country.

He advised them to impact the knowledge the have acquired from the two weeks intensive training on other youth and members of their communities.

The participants who were full of appreciation to the federal government and ministry of agriculture were presented with certificate of participation and starter pack of One hundred thousand naira each.
