Again: Boeing 737 with over 60 passengers crashes after take off from Indonesia

A Boeing 737 passenger plane with at least 60 people on board has crashed into the sea after vanishing shortly after take off from Indonesian capital Jakarta.

The Sriwijaya Air passenger plane lost contact earlier today, Saturday, while traveling to Pontianak in West Kalimantan province, according to the nation’s transport ministry and multiple reports.

Workers of Indonesia rescue agency could be seen pulling debris from the water in spirited search for survivors. The agency has confirmed the debris were that of the Sriwijaya Boeing 737 plane.

It was gathered that the plane fell 10,000ft in less than one minute, about four minutes after taking off.

Flightradar24 tweeted: “We are following reports of a missing Boeing 737-500 in Indonesia. We hope to have more information soon.”

According to AirLive.net there were 62 people on board: 56 passengers, four crew members and two pilots.

Of the 56 passengers, 46 were adults, seven were children and three were infants.
