BE PRUDENT AND ACCOUNTABLE: KWARA SPEAKER CHARGES TIC CHAIRMEN

The newly inaugurated Transition Implementation Committee, TIC Chairmen across the local government areas in Kwara State have been charged to be prudent, accountable and committed to the welfare of their people.

Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Yakubu Danladi-Salihu who gave the charged at the inauguration of the Vice Chairman and other members of for Baruten Local Government in Kosubosu explained that Local Government, being the third tier of government is very critical to the development of the people at the grassroots.

“As the third tier of government which is the closest arm of government to the people, the Local Government is very critical to the development of our people, you have to work assiduously to engender development and improve the welfare of the people in Baruten”

“The present administration under the able leadership of Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq is bringing development across the length and breadth of the state including Baruten Local government and the best thing to do is to appreciate the Governor’s giant strides by complementing his works at the grass root level”

Right Honourable Danladi-Salihu also advised the TIC to correct the practice of ‘remote ruling’ and take governance to the grassroots so that people can enjoy more dividends of democracy.

“I want to advise you to always be with your people, do not abandon them and be ruling them from the state capital as was the case in the previous administration, you must be accessible and available to attend to your people’s need and solve their problems”

He also tasked the Committee to complement the efforts of the traditional leaders in tackling the security challenges in the area and secure the lives and properties of the people in the area.

The Speaker reiterated Governor Abdulrazaq’s commitment to fixing infrastructural deficit in the state from road construction to education, health and electricity and provision of basic amenities for Kwarans and appreciated the confidence and support the people have in the government.

He therefore, implored the people of Baruten especially the traditional rulers to continue to support APC and the government of Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq in his quest to positively touch the lives Kwarans and transform the state for better.

The Baruten TIC Chairman, Honourable AbdulRasheed Ibrahim Lafia a remark, appreciated Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for the confidence reposed in him and the unflinching support from Right Honourable Yakubu Danladi-Salihu as well as other critical stakeholders and promised to serve Baruten people diligently.

The Legal Adviser for Baruten Local Government, Barrister Muhammad Sabi administered oath of office to the Vice Chairman and other members of the TIC.

Those inaugurated are Ahmed . O. Halimat; Vice Chairman, Ishaq Ibrahim Faru; Secretary, Gunu Yahya Sime; Supervisory Counselor for works, Adam Hajarat; Supervisory Counselor for Agriculture and Natural Resources., Ibrahim Abdullah; Supervisory Counselor for Education and Social Services and Musa Abubakar Sidiq; Supervisory Counselor for Health.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Emirs of Okuta, Ilesha, Gwanara and Yashikira, Honourable Muhammad Baba Salihu, member representing Okuta Yashikira at the House of Assembly, Kwara APC Caretaker Chairman, Honourable Abdullah Samari, Baruten APC Caretaker Local Government Chairman, Honourable Abubakar Setraco, former Kwara Commissioner for Energy, Honourable Aliu Lafia Kora-Sabi, Special Assistant on Political Matter to Governor; Abdulkareem Yusuf Dan Hawa, Special Assistant Assistant on Normadic to the Governor; Hajia Aisha Yusuf among others.
