The National and State House of Assembly elections petition tribunal sitting in Kano has nullified the election victory of Tarauni Federal Constituency member, Muktar Yerma, of the New Nigeria Peoples Party over certificate forgery.

The Tribunal explained that after evaluating the witnesses statement on oath as well as the documents tendered before the tribunal it affirms that Umar Yarima forged his Primary Certificate and therefore not qualified to contest for the Tarauni Federal House of Representatives Election.

Radio Nigeria reports that, the petitioner, Hafizu Kawu of the APC challenged the electoral victory of Muktar Yerima which the tribunal nullified on Thursday.

The former member of the house of representatives, Hafizu has petitioned the tribunal, challenging the legitimacy of Yerima’s victory on the basis of a fake certificate

Yerima was declared winner of the February 18th 2023 election under the platform of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), defeating the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Hafizu Kawu.

Delivering judgement, the three man panel tribunal, upheld Kawu’s petition and nullified the sitting NNPP member’s election.
