CHRISTIANS ASSURED OF END TO CHALLENGES AS THEY COMMEMORATE HOLY WEEK

As Christians around the world commemorate the Holy week, they have been given assurance that they will soon overcome every challenges facing them.

Bishop, Diocese of Igbomina Anglican Communion, Kwara State, Right Reverend Emmanuel Adekola gave the assurance in an exclusive interview with Lanre Omotoso to commemorate the Holy week.

Bishop Adekola said Holy week which is the last Seven days of Lent is commemorated to remember the trial, suffering and crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

Bishop of Igbomina Anglican Communion stressed that challenges facing the nation such as COVID-19, kidnapping and banditry called for sober reflection, hence the need for Christians to hold on to Jesus Christ, the author and finisher of their faith.

He emphasized that Jesus Christ went through betrayal by one of the disciples which led to His crucifixion, but triumph when he rose on the third day.

While noting that resurrection of Jesus Christ is pivotal to salvation of Christians, the clergyman informed that they would overcome their challenges with prayer, alms-giving and endurance.

The Holy week comprises Palm Sunday which is triumphant entering of Jesus Christ to Jerusalem, Holy Monday, the day Mary anointed Jesus with expensive oil, Holy Tuesday, the day Jesus announced his betrayer as well as Holy Wednesday, the day Pilate and Herod became friends with the aim of putting Jesus Christ to death.

Others are Holy Thursday, when Holy Communion was instituted, Holy Friday, when Jesus Christ was sentenced to death by Pilate and Holy Saturday, when Jesus Christ went down to hell to preach the Gospel.
