GURE DAY: KWARA SPEAKER PLEDGES SUPPORT FOR IMPROVEMENT AND SUSTENANCE OF THE HISTORICAL FESTIVAL

The Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Yakubu Danladi-Salihu has pledged to sustain and improve the subsequent edition of Gure Day, a cultural festival in Baruten Local Government Area of the State.

Right Honourable Danladi-Salihu who made the pledge while speaking at this year’s celebration of Gure Day described the occasion as a unique one which provides opportunity for sons and daughters of Gure to come together irrespective of party line and foster unity, peace, progress and development of the community.

“Gure Day provides an avenue for sons and daughter, especially leaders of Gure, regardless of politcal party affiliation, to come together and celebrate rich cultural values of the community and foster unity, peace, progress and development to the land”

“We will make sure that, the next Celebration of Gure Day is improved and colourful to attract more dignitaries from within and outside the state so that it can be sustained as an annual event”.

The Speaker also gave assurance that the House of Assembly under his leadership would continue to support festivals such as the Gure Day which he said, has capacity to boost tourism in the state.

“The Ninth House of Assembly would always support Gure Day and any other festivals in other parts of the state that could improve culture and tourism agenda and drive of the state government under the leadership of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq”

Engineer Danladi-Salihu also stressed the neved for traditional and Community leaders as well as other critical stakeholders to shun their political differences, come together and focus solely on how to development and move the community forward.

The Right Honourable Speaker, Engineer Yakubu Danladi-Salihu attended the 18th Gure Day 2021 with the Senator representing Kwara North, Pharmacist Sodiq Umar, his colleague at the House of Assembly, Honourable Muhammad Baba Salihu, APC Caretaker Chairman, Honourable Abdullah Samari, TIC Chairman for Baruten Local Government, Honourable Abdulrasheed Ibrahim Lafia former Kwara Commissioner for Energy, Honourable Aliu Lafia Kora Sabi among others.
