The management of Radio Nigeria Harmony FM, Idofian has thrown its weight behind the candidature of Abdullahi Dare Akogun as the next Chairman of the Kwara Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
The General Manager of the station, Alhaji AbdulWahab Akoshile gave the endorsement when the Abdullahi Dare Akogun Campaign Organisation visited the station to solicit for votes from members of the Chapel.
Alhaji Akoshile who was represented by the Head of Marketing, Alhaji Suraj Aderibigbe described Akogun as a good product who needed little or no advertisements assuring that staff of the Harmony FM chapel would be mobilized to vote on the day of the elections.
Elder Wole Adedeji while speaking at the occasion said the incoming leadership at the Kwara NUJ will partner with the management of Harmony FM in the provision of security for members working at the station especially those working night shifts through adequate arrangements.
The Vice Chairmanship candidate Hajia Binta Mora in her remarks said now is the time for a positive change in the kwara NUJ, assuring members that a new dawn and a breath of fresh air has come.
Coordinator of the Harmony FM Chapel, Mr Lawrence Afolabi, commended the ‘Rescue Team’ for deeming it fit to visit the station despite the fact that the station is outside the state capital.
He revealed that no members of the present executive had visited the chapel officially in the last three years
Afolabi assured that the chapel will give massive support for the aspiration of Akogun to become the next Chairman of the council.
Earlier in his remarks Abdullahi Dare Akogun said his ambition to become the state chairman of the council was borne out of the yearnings of concerned union members for representative democracy, inclusive governance and members welfare.
He said the Kwara State Council of the NUJ is at a critical point, where an all-inclusive approach to its leadership is required, to ensure active participation of every member without leaving anyone behind.
