The APC Congress was conducted separately by two different factions in Kano state.
The first election took place at the Sani Abacha Stadium which Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and delegates of the party in Kano attended and vote.
Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas was the APC Chairmanship candidate in Kano without any co Contestant because leaders of the party had reached consensus to vote for Abdullahi Abbas as chairman.
The Election process began at about 10.00am prompt ,a total of 3,320 delegates from all the 44 local governments converged at sani Abacha Stadium to participate in Congress Election.
Addressing party Supporters Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje said ” Some disgruntled elements may hold another congress somewhere else.”
“as far as APC is concerned, the Congress being held today, at this venue is the recognised by the national body.
” The information we have is that the only APC Congress is the one taking place now, at this venue. This venue is the Olave where APC Congress is holding,” said Mr Ganduje.
He urged the part members to be of good conduct and ensure a hitch-free exercise.
Up to the time of filing this report the Congress votes were still counting.
Meanwhile, the Factional part of the APC in Kano lead by Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, and Alhaji Tijjani Abdulkadir Jobe,(member Representing tofa, Rimin gado,and Dawakin tofa, Honourable Ibrahim Sha’aban Sharada (member Representing Kano Municipal) and others Conducted another APC Congress election at Janguza in tofa local Government Area of Kano state.
Speaking shortly after the election was conducted at Janguza the overseer of the election from APC national Headquarters Sani Bello said the election was conducted Peaceful,and Alhaji Ahmadu Haruna Zago Emerged the Party Chairman.
Addressing journalist on behalf of the Factional team, member Representing Rimin gado,tofa and Dawakin tofa Tijjani Abdulkadir Jobe vows not to allow anybody to derail the party from the path to victory.
According to him, “officials from national body have conducted the elections and we have casted our votes.
“We (our leader, Senator Ibrahim Shekaru, Senator Barau Jibril and myself) will not allow anybody to derail this party. APC party shall not fail in Kano. It will remain a winning party in Kano State.
“We call on all supporters in Kano to rally round and support the elected Chairman to ensure we emerge victorious in 2023 just like we did in 2019,” Jobe said. said the Congress was peaceful.
