Kwara Gov’s Wife Hammers On Impactful Education For Students

Students and pupils in kwara state have been  reassured of the state government’s commitment towards repositioning education to ensure each child gets competitive chance to excel in their education.

Wife of the Kwara State Governor Dr. Olufolake Abdulrazaq gave the assurance at the official launching and presentation of this Year’s Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition held at Banquet Hall, Ilorin.

Dr Olufolake said the event would present an opportunity for youth to share their thoughts, ideas and experience on key global issues for their achievements to be celebrated globally.

In his address, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, represented by the Director, International Organisation Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Samson Itegboje explained that the Essay has provided opportunity for active youth engagement and participation in an ever-growing network of skill acquisition, access to resources, as well as platform for creative writing.

The Minister therefore, urged youth to put in their best in achieving the goals and play active role in promoting and supporting the virtues and values of modern Commonwealth.

Also speaking, representive of the Minister of Education, the Director, Education Support Services Department, Federal Ministry of Education, Dr.Lydia Giginna called on youth to showcase their potentials to help them to excel in their academic pursuit.

In her message, the British Deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria, Gill Atkinson, appreciated the first-lady for the opportunity, saying that the society will continue to strengthen and improve the lives of Nigerians.

Atkinson enjoined Kwarans to always participate in the Commonwealth community programmes.

Maryam Giwa Bello reports that highlights of the event was a short Commonwealth quiz to test the knowledge of participating students, pupils and members  of the Youth Service Corps  and presentation  of a special award to honor wife of the Kwara State Governor, Dr Olufolake Abdulrazaq by the country Director of Commonwealth, Mr Boackson Bayewunmi
