KWASU ‘LL PRODUCE WELL TRAINED HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS – Vice Chancellor

The Vice Chancellor of Kwara State University, Malete, Prof. Muhammed Mustapha Akanbi SAN has said KWASU will complement the State Government’s health care delivery services by producing ” quality, well trained healthcare professionals” to man the sector.

The University’s helmsman stated this in his address delivered at the University’s second oath taking / Induction ceremony for the 2019 / 2020 session of newly qualified Medical Laboratory Scientists.

Prof. Akanbi while congratulating the sixty – seven inductees for successfully achieving their dreams of becoming bona fide, professional members of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN), said KWASU had recorded another milestone with the Induction ceremony.

He charged the graduands and other students still undergoing training to make hard work and service to humanity thier watchword in their chosen career.
Prof. Akanbi who was represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration, Prof. Omololu Fapojuwo also revealed that the University has a Multi – Complex Laboratory currently under construction and at 80% completion.

He said the project when commissioned by the end of the year 2021, will ensure that the Department of Medical Laboratory Science has “a more conducive environment for world class teaching, research, learning and service delivery”.
The Registrar / Chief Executive Officer, Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN), Dr. Tosan Erhabor in his speech commended the the Vice Chancellor and the Management Team of KWASU for setting a pace of progress by maintaining a stable academic calendar.
Noting that this is the second ceremony hosted by the Institution this year, Dr. Erhabor described KWASU as a world class tertiary institution with a vibrant and experienced leadership.

The Registrar who was represented by the Acting Director, Department of Practitioner Regulation and Discipline, Mr. Gregory Uchuno, said further that the MLSCN will do everything in its powers to ensure that only competent, versatile and skilled graduands are produced by KWASU.

He charged the inductees not to rest on their oars after but to continue to improve themselves through various MLSCN – approved continuous professional development programmes.

The Oath Taking / Induction ceremony which took place on the 5th of October 2021 at the Convocation Arena of the University, had 67 graduates inducted into the Medical Laboratory Science profession. This brings to a total number of two hundred and six Medical Laboratory Scientists produced by the University.
