Kwara State Government says it has commenced the process for promotion of teachers from 2016 which had been suspended to improve their socio-economic lives.

The State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu stated this at the 2021 World Teachers Day Celebration organised by Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT held at their Asa Dam House, Ilorin.

She noted that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration recognised the contribution of teachers as nation builders and key behind successful development in the state.

Hajia Saadatu Modibbo Kawu explained that as part of efforts to ensure quality teaching and learning, the government had embarked on renovation, reconstruction and remodelling of schools in the state.

She implored the teachers not to relent in their efforts to educate the society as power of mental development resides in their profession.

In an address, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the NUT, Comrade Umar Usman Abdullahi, who commended Governor AbdulRazaq for his efforts at restoring the lost glory of education in the state, appealed to him to address challenges facing teachers including implementation of the Thirty Thousand Naira Minimum Wage and adequate security at schools.

Comrade Umar Usman Abdullahi charged the teachers to redouble their efforts in discharging their professional responsibilities to deliver quality service.
