As Nigeria celebrates its sixty years of nationhood, Nigerians have been urged not to promote disunity nor fan embers of war, through hate speeches and other vices but to protect the nation’s unity.

Mr. Olusegun Adeyemi, the Kwara State Director, National Orientation Agency, stated this on Thursday in his independence day message to Nigerians.

According to him, ” we cannot afford to sacrifice our unity on the altar of selfishness, tribalism, ethno-religious crisis, and unpatriotic activities”. Rather, we should maximize our diversity to our advantage.

Adeyemi congratulated all Nigerians and emphasized that Nigeria is undoubtedly blessed with human and abundant natural resources which we must all find legitimate ways to explore and develop, for the good of all.

The NOA Director therefore urged religious/traditional and political leaders, and indeed every Nigerian to reflect on the pains and gains of nationhood and do all within their power to promote our oneness so we can all enjoy the fruits of independence.

He appealed for citizens’ patience and support even as the government continues to make developmental efforts across different sectors.
