Immediate past Senate Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki has called on Nigerians to use democracy to achieve good governance.
Dr. Saraki in a press release to commemorate this year’s Democracy Day, said it is noteworthy that unlike before 1999, the nation had sustained the semblance of a democratic system for twenty two unbroken years.
He noted that there is no doubt that Democracy is the best system in evolving a modern government and it remains the most acceptable globally.
The former Senate President stressed that the celebration should also help the country to raise the question of whether democracy is working to serve the interest of Nigerians.
He said the government have no option than to make the system work for the country and it people also appealed to all stakeholders to give peace a chance as nothing can be achieved in the absence of peace.
Dr Saraki however enjoined every one who wants to occupy any position in post-May 2023 in Nigeria and all those who love the country to enter the arena in discussing ideas that will solve the problems in the country.
