Standards Organisation of Nigeria has destroyed substandard goods worth about Nine Million Naira in Kaduna.
State Coordinator of the organisation, Mallam Kasim Mohammed Yahaya led officials of the agency to destroy the fake items at a dumpsite in Kaduna.
Mr Kasim Yahaya explained that the items were confiscated as a result of a market survey operation conducted at different outlets that specialized in counterfeiting products.
He maintained that peddlers of bags of cement secure the commodities, re-bag and refill them, while the tyres were life endangered products that can cause death and injuries when they expire.
Some of the items confiscated and destroyed include three hundred and seventy substandard tyres worth about five Million Naira, One hundred and thirty-four bags of cement valued at one Million Naira, as well as Three hundred and seven rolls of substandard cables worth Three Million Naira.
