As the world celebrates international day for Tuberculosis today, Medical expert has advised Nigerians to always go for medical check up to know their Tuberculosis, TB status.
The programme manager tuberculosis and leprosy unit, Kwara State, Dr Muhammed oyeniyi Abdulrasheed gave the advice in an interview with Abubakar Umar, in llorin.
Dr Abdulrasheed who noted that government could not fold its arms to see citizens dye of TB, also stressed that the treatment and diagnosis of tuberculosis was for everybody in Nigeria.
While highlighting some major causes of TB, Dr Abdulrasheed enjoined people to always cook their meat properly to avoid being infected.
He also encouraged people to buy meat from abattoir duly certified by government regulatory agencies.
Dr Muhammed appreciated the efforts of the Kwara state government for its efforts in the reduction of TB burden in the state.
The Kwara State programme manager on tuberculosis and leprosy also commended wife of the Kwara state Governor, Dr Olufolake Abdulrasaq who is an Advocacy Ambassador of TB for her commitment in ensuring the burden of TB is reduced, as well as to stop multiplying effect on vulnerable groups such as children.
