School principals charged on productivity, as ANCOPSS holds exco meeting

Secondary school principals and other stakeholders in the education sector have been charged to be proactive and contribute their quota to development of the sector.

President of the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools, ANCOPSS, in Kwara State, Alhaji Toyin Abdullahi gave the charge at the body’s monthly executive meeting held at the Idofian Grammar School, Idofian, Kwara State.

Alhaji Toyin Abdullahi explained that the monthly meeting was aimed at brainstorming and deliberating on issues affecting Secondary school education with a view to proffering lasting solutions.

The ANCOPSS President who said he and his team went round to monitor the just concluded WAEC and BECE examinations, thanked God and members of the ANCOPSS as well as all teachers for the success.

He also commended the Principals for their total compliance to zero tolerance for examination malpractices in the state and called for more cooperation.

Earlier in a welcome address, the Principal of Idofian Grammar School and Chairman of ANCOPSS Omupo Zone, Mr Odofin Razaq Oyewole, enjoined Principals to be alive to their responsibility as they are the pillars of education.

He appealed to government and other school management to rise to the challenges of fund, materials and manpower facing Secondary School education in the country.

He stressed the need for Secondary School Principals to strive in annexing other school communities such as Old Student Unions, PTA, philanthropists and NGOs to assist in improving learning processes.

Mr Odofin Razaq Oyewole who lauded the state leadership of ANCOPSS and acknowledged the contribution of past leaders, implored principals to be a good leader rather than good ruler.

Discussion in the meeting centred on resumption of JSS1 and SS1 for 2020/2021 academic session, implementation of promotion exercise and the new minimum wage.
